Late-Summer Race Registration Checklist: August 2026 Deadlines

Five August registration dates for Kitsap runners to check, from Olympic Mountains trail races to Healthy Kids, Poulsbo, and nearby events.

Editor’s note: Registration details were checked on August 10, 2026. Every deadline and registration status below is time-sensitive. Recheck the linked registration page before publishing and before paying.

Several late-summer race decisions are coming up quickly for Kitsap runners and families. The first deadline is Tuesday, August 11. Other dates affect race gear, a youth-series discount, and September price changes.

This checklist puts those actions in date order. Start with the events you are seriously considering. Then check the registration page for the current total, policies, and availability before you enter.

August 11: Olympic Mountains registration closes

Event dates: August 15–16, 2026
Location: Olympic National Forest near Quilcene
Distances listed: 100K, 50K, 50K ruck, 25K, 25K ruck, and 10K
Deadline: Tuesday, August 11 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific

The Olympic Mountains Trail Races registration page lists August 11 at 11:59 p.m. as the closing time. That gives interested Kitsap runners about one day to make a decision based on the August 10 source check.

Availability varies by distance. On August 10, UltraSignup showed the 50K as sold out with a waitlist. Other distances displayed registration options, but those openings can change at any time. Check the live page rather than relying on this article for remaining space.

This is a nearby Olympic Peninsula event rather than a Kitsap County race. It also requires more planning than a typical road event. The organizer says race headquarters is reached by forest roads and warns that navigation apps and cell service are unreliable in the area. Read the current racer manual and driving directions before entering. Consider whether the distance, trail conditions, travel time, start schedule, and withdrawal policy work for you.

Your action: If this event is on your list, check your distance’s live status and complete your review by August 11. If you are already registered, download the current racer manual and save the organizer’s directions offline.

August 13: Race For A Soldier gear timing

Event date: Sunday, September 13, 2026
Location: Gig Harbor
Events listed: Half marathon, 10K, 5K, kids’ run, and virtual run
Gear date: Thursday, August 13

Race For A Soldier is a nearby Gig Harbor option. Its RunSignup page says participants should register by August 13 to receive their gear by race weekend.

This is a gear-timing date, not the listed end of registration for the in-person races. If getting event gear by race weekend matters to you, treat August 13 as your decision point. If it does not, review the later registration and price dates on the live page.

RunSignup lists the half marathon, 10K, and 5K as separate events, along with a kids’ run and virtual option. Read the details for your specific event before paying. Rules, start times, age-based pricing, and deadlines are not identical across every distance.

Your action: Register by August 13 only if you have reviewed the event details and want the organizer’s stated race-weekend gear timing. Check the order summary before submitting payment.

August 23: Healthy Kids Running Series discount date

Series dates: September 13, 20, and 27; October 4 and 11, 2026
Location: Pendergast Regional Park in Bremerton
Time listed: 2 p.m.
Discount date: Sunday, August 23

The fall Healthy Kids Running Series registration page lists a five-event program for children from pre-K through eighth grade. It says to register by August 23 for a $5 discount.

Full-series registration covers all five dates. The organizer lists age-based running distances and a Challenger Division, described as an adaptive 75-yard event for children with disabilities or special needs. The page says supportive devices may be used and family members or friends may join the child on the course to provide support.

Single-day walk-up registration is also listed, but it does not include everything provided with full-series registration. The organizer says single-day participants do not receive a series shirt or official series scoring and results. Families deciding between the full series and one visit should compare those details, not just the entry cost.

Your action: By August 23, decide whether your child is likely to participate in the full five-week series. Confirm the current discount, registration total, division, and participation details on RunSignup.

August 31: Poulsbo Half Marathon and 10K price tier ends

Event date: Sunday, October 4, 2026
Location: Poulsbo
Distances: Half marathon and 10K
Price-change time: Monday, August 31 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific

The Poulsbo Half Marathon & 10K registration page says the current entry prices for both distances increase after August 31 at 11:59 p.m.

This is the most local item on the August 31 list. It may be useful if you want a fall race in North Kitsap without adding Olympic Peninsula travel. RunSignup lists an 8 a.m. start for the half marathon and an 8:30 a.m. start for the 10K, but all race-day details should be checked again closer to October 4.

The page also lists minimum ages for each distance. Families registering younger runners should review those limits before making plans.

Your action: Choose your distance and review the refund policy, age requirement, current price, fees, and registration status by August 31.

August 31: Big Hurt prices change September 1

Event schedule: Check-in on Friday, September 25; race on Saturday, September 26, 2026
Location: Port Angeles
Formats: Solo Iron division or relay team
Price change: September 1

Big Hurt is an Olympic Peninsula day-trip or overnight option, not a Kitsap event. The multisport race combines mountain biking, kayaking, road biking, and a 10K run. Participants may complete all four legs in the Iron division or divide them among a team.

The Big Hurt registration page lists August 31 as the final day of the current price tiers for Iron and team entries. Higher tiers begin September 1. The page also says participants must register by September 1 to be assured a shirt in their selected size.

Before entering, account for more than the registration deadline. Team members need to settle their roles. Participants also need the required equipment and a plan for Friday check-in, kayak drop-off, and Saturday’s mandatory pre-race meeting. Review each race leg and the event’s cutoff times with your full team.

Your action: Finalize your team and equipment plan before August 31. Then confirm the current entry tier and shirt terms in the live registration flow.

Make one registration pass now, then set reminders

  • August 23: Healthy Kids Running Series discount date.
